Below you will find tips for setting up your camera trap in the field:
Install the device about 1.5 m/2 m high, slightly pointing downwards.
Set the device facing north or south. Do not face the device east or west as the sunrise and sunset may cause false triggers and produce overexposed images.
To monitor a trail, point the device along the trail rather than perpendicularly. This allows you to see several animals at once if they pass in line.
Avoid placing the device on a weak tree that might move in strong winds.
Try to place the camera on a stable and fixed support.
Clear branches or grass in front of the device. In windy conditions or high temperatures, they could cause false triggers.
Check the condition of the batteries before setting up the device.
Ensure the memory card is properly inserted.
Check that the date and time are correct.
Make sure to set the switch to "ON" before you leave.
